First Weekend in SF

What a sigh of relief. After a month of planning, a week of driving and hours of anticipation, it’s refreshing to be able to slow down and finally enjoy our new life.

Our first weekend in San Francisco included all of my favorite things: wine, food, shopping and travel. It also involved hiking, which I’ve realized is major pastime for all of the obnoxiously healthy people out here. I tried to pretend I enjoy this activity, but I can think of many other ways I’d rather spend a Sunday morning (cough, sleeping). I must admit, however, that hiking isn’t so bad when you have the Golden Gate Bridge draped across the skyline in front of you.

Because Joe and I are currently living in Marin, which is North of the city, we take a ferry to get into SF. The Ferry Building reminds me of NYC’s Chelsea Market with its artisan food stalls and savory treats- look out for a detailed post on that coming soon! On a nice day, you can also wander down the Pier towards Fisherman’s Wharf.

We wrapped up the day with some shopping and dinner in the Marina District. By chance, we stumbled upon Delarosa, an adorable little Italian restaurant with a fresh, artisanal take on the cuisine. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor communal seating, and they get quite busy on the weekends- but the wait is worth it!
